How to Find Your Google+ URL and True Local URL

Google+ isn’t being used as often now that it has been separated from your Google local/maps listing.

Now, it’s best to provide your Google Maps URL and give that to your happy customers/clients. Find out how to get more Google reviews on your maps page.

How to find your Google+ and True Local URL’s

One of the best ways to ensure you get some good online reviews from your customers is to give them your Google+ URL and True Local URL. This way they don’t have to go looking and wasting time to find your business to review it.

How to find your Google+ URL:

1) Log in to Google+2) Click on the this link3) Look at the URL in the address bar, it should look something like this:http://ift.tt/2nLGd8J (or if you have a vanity URL it might look like this:

4) Copy and paste that url and ask your customers to leave reviews for you.

Even better, get yourself a vanity url… what’s a vanity url, you ask???

Instead of a heap of long numbers that no one will recognise or remember, you can get yourself what is called a vanity url that is a custom url with your name in it. For example, the url to my personal Google+ profile is http://ift.tt/2nEdmGt (let’s connect on Google+!).

The custom url for Go Viral Now’s Google+ page is http://ift.tt/2nLKd8X

Information from Google about getting your custom (vanity) url:

  • Sign in to Google+.
  • Place your cursor in the top left corner for the Google + main menu and then click Profile.
  • Click the About tab, and under Links > Google+ URL, click Get URL.
  • You’ll see the custom URL you’ve been approved for, which you will not be able to change. You may also need to add a few letters or numbers to make it unique to you.
  • Click the box next to “I agree to the Terms of Service” then click Change URL in the bottom left corner.
  • You may be asked to verify your account using your mobile phone number. To do this, you’ll need to:
  • Enter your mobile phone number when prompted, then click Send code in the lower left corner.
  • Check your phone for the code that was sent to you.
  • Enter that code in the box on your screen, then click Verify in the lower left corner.
  • This URL will be linked to your Google+ Page or Profile, so be sure everything is exactly the way you want it. Once your URL has been approved, you cannot request to change it. When you’re certain, click Confirm choice.
  • If you want to change the capitalization or accents/diacritics of your custom URL, follow these steps:

  • Sign in to Google+.
  • Place your cursor in the top left corner for the Google + main menu and then click Profile.
  • Click the About tab, and under Links > Google+ URL, click Edit.
  • A box will appear allowing you to make edits to the formatting.
  • Remember, you can only change the capitalization and diacritics of the URL, not the URL itself.
  • Eligibility Requirements for a Custom/Vanity Google+ URL

    Your account needs to be in good standing and meet a few other requirements to get a custom url.

    Google gives the following guidelines for their custom url’s:

    For Individual Users:

    Ten or more followers
    Account is 30 days old or more
    Profile includes profile photo
    For Local Google+ Pages: Must be a verified local business

    For Non-local Google+ Pages: Must be linked to a website

How to Perform Competitive Research on The Go

When I’m invited to a new restaurant I always check its reviews and a website first. If I don’t like the online representation, chances are, I’m not going there.

Google’s replaced friends recommendation for us. So no matter what kind of business you’re running, you need to make sure your website is on Google and it shows up in top of search for the keywords you need.

The problem is that pretty much every niche online is already saturated so ranking gets painfully hard. But that can also be a good thing if you learn from your competitor’s mistakes and wins.

So before publishing any content you need to make sure you’ve done some competitive research and figured out exactly what kind of content works best in your niche, what sources of traffic generate most traction, which social media are best for your kind of business and where you can get the right links to boost your Google rankings.

If you could find all of the links that point to your rivals, you could go on and recreate them. And if your content is good enough, you’d probably outrank them on Google.

Here’s how you’d use it on your site:

1. Identify your competitors by googling a keyword you’d like to rank for.

2. Open their pages from SERP one by one and carefully read their content. Make notes and look for ways to improve it.

3. While on SERP, check the UR(URL Rating) and DR(Domain Rating) of your competitors. Compare them to yours to understand if you’ll be able to rank for this keyword.

4. If you decided to go for it, write a great piece of natural content that would cover the topic from A to Z rather than concentrating on a single keyword.
